There are several questions to ask yourself when using Instagram for your business. You need to focus on the 5 key “Ws” of the brand; the who, what, where, when, and why questions. After reading this blog, you will have a better understanding of the content you should post to achieve your goal with social media.
The first step before asking yourself the following questions is to write down your goals and what will it do for your business? Whether your goal is asking people to subscribe to an account or buying a product or service, be clear with yourself and your brand on Instagram. Be intentional with your posts, and you will see a big difference for your business through the use of Instagram.
The first question to ask yourself is, “Who are your clients?” “Who seeks out your service?” “What does your clientele like to see on social media?” Before posting a photo on Instagram make sure to ask yourself these questions:
- Would your audience like the photo?
- Would it inspire them or give a call to action like buying your product?
You control what your followers see so be intentional with your brand on Instagram and your posts.
Ask, “What do you do?” If you are a writer, designer, blogger do your images showcase that? Make sure that you let your audience know who you are, what you do and your brand on Instagram. This will allow your audience to relate to you on a personal level, people will relate with your expertise, or they’ll be inspired by what you do and will hopefully engage more with your photos. Showcasing flat lays of your desk, or your current scenario, whether in a meeting or a cool warehouse, can increase your interaction with people. Followers like to see your whereabouts when it comes to your work. Who knows, by showing these things people will like what you do and where you do it they will reach out and want to work with you. You can show your audience your brand on Instagram and workspace. If you are having meetings with several clients in different restaurants, showcase that, or if you are always creating cool graphics on your computer showcase that as well.
“When do you do what you do?” I mentioned before that you can show behind the scenes clips on your business and the creative process to help with your Instagram content. “What sets your business apart?” Showcase it, and people will know what makes you stand out from the rest. You don’t have to spill the beans on your hidden secrets, but you can show creative steps you take to achieve your business goal through your brand on Instagram.
This is probably the most important question overall; “Why do you do what you do?” This will help you when things in your social media are not going your way. You can share the why in the text when posting an image to Instagram. Asking the why before posting will help you post meaningful content on your feed. Whether it’s to showcase behind the scenes footage, or images of your products or even a selfie be intentional and always share with your followers the why behind your business.
