Does optimizing your LinkedIn profile feel like reading a foreign language? Don’t worry, we’re sharing helpful tips from our experienced Orlando LinkedIn marketing team.

LinkedIn is used by over 830 million people worldwide, allowing you to network and connect with a large number of users. Because of its specific business focus, the LinkedIn platform allows you to build credibility and learn from established experts in your industry. Now, let’s optimize your profile!

Use a strong profile image

The picture you choose should show your face and be professional, but also genuine. Don’t let your smile say, “I wish it was Friday, but it’s only Monday.”

Avoid blurry images, and use a file size that is at least 400 x 400 pixels. Poor image quality can give a bad first impression, and you know what they say about first impressions; you never get a second chance at it.

If your profile is for your company, using your logo is recommended and boosts brand retention. When you’re ready to add your image, make sure you choose the “Public” option, which allows search engines to find your LinkedIn profile easily. 

Your summary is your story

This section gives you 2,000 characters to tell your visitors who you are and why you’re awesome. Hook your readers with an opening line using the first 265 characters to make them want more. This is what will show before they hit “See More,” so make them want to click it. 

Then, compel them to follow you by showing your expertise and aspirations. You want to be a viral dog mom? Great, show them why you’re better than the other dog moms.

Show off your experience and education

You worked hard to get where you are. Show that to your visitors. Focus on your greatest achievements, and add work experience and skills that are related to your industry. For example, that summer you mowed lawns doesn’t really matter when you’re in the banking industry.

Grow your network

Getting started is as easy as syncing your email contact with your profile. LinkedIn will then automatically suggest connecting with people you know. From there, you can grow your network by searching for others in your industry, alumni from your high school or college, former coworkers, your college professor, and so many more. Wow, this is a great start to your LinkedIn profile! However, we’ve only just begun. You’re going to need a posting and content strategy that engages and informs your viewers on the correct days and at the right times.
