If you haven’t caught on yet, we’ve launched a new product offered to businesses. It’s product photography but more specifically it’s called flat lays.

If you’re new to the flat lay market, which you probably aren’t (you’ve probably seen them but not known they were called that) we’re going to share with you the ultimate flat lay must have list.

When we first started doing this for one of our clients, we couldn’t figure out what to get and we Google’d and Bing’d and came up with nothing. We searched for an ultimate flat lay must have list but it simply didn’t exist… and here we are!

When we had our first Etsy client approach us about helping her start a page and create an Instagram to drive traffic we got lucky. She brought in a bucket full of things she had collected over the years. She had all kinds of knick knacks and guess what… those looked the best! But for those of us who do spring cleaning each year, this list is for you! (And we put links to where you can find things too!)

If you’re an office based service business

If you’re running a service based business (like us) you might be a little lost on where to start (which is where we were). Here’s a picture we took of our space to get your creative juices flowing.

If you’re a blogger

If you’re a fashion, lifestyle blogger or foodie, you know that pictures are what entices people to come back over and over again. Chances are you’ve shown your style but if you need a little extra inspiration here’s a picture that depicts this.

If you’re a product based company

If you’re running a product based company you want to make sure that your product is the center of attention. You want items that will compliment your item and enable it to stand out. Whether you have a serious or fun product, this photo will help you get a jumpstart on how to position things.

Make it square

Now that you’ve read the ultimate flat lay must have list, you need to know how to implement it. Since they’ll primarily be used for Instagram or social media in general, you’ll want to take them in the ‘square’ setting on your phone’s camera.

Now make it into a story

These photos are specific and should be able to help you create a story. They should give an insider’s view into your work day or work product. The caption is where the magic happens and how you tie in it being relevant and relatable. Make sure you tell about the photo and you tie in what you’ve been doing or what you’ve been learning lately. People love to be educated, so tell them something they didn’t know!!

This last step is the final step to making your flat lay pictures popular and clickable. They’re the latest rage and now with this ultimate flat lay must have list you’ll be making great photos with props that fit right in in no time!
