How can you use artificial intelligence and SEO? Should you use it? Let’s discuss.

Is it just me or is AI suddenly everywhere you look? While we’re all busy wondering if ChatGPT is going to take the place of search engines and testing out the latest AI art generator, there’s a lot to consider when it comes to AI’s impact on the workforce in almost any industry.

Artificial intelligence can be used to automate certain tasks that had previously been done by humans, and it’s looking like this technology will only continue to grow as time goes on. AI brings a lot of benefits, specifically in terms of the efficiency and productivity that it can bring to our day to day tasks. But how will AI impact your SEO (search engine optimization) strategy?

Can AI Write Content?

AI may not have feelings, but it sure knows how to string words together like a pro! It doesn’t get writer’s block, and it doesn’t need coffee to get those creative juices flowing. In fact, the only thing it needs is data, and lots of it. So, if you want your writing to be as impressive as a robot’s, just feed it some good quality data and watch the magic happen. Who needs a human writer when you can have a machine that can write all night and never ask for a raise?

If you thought that sounded like it was written by someone from your accounting department, you might be surprised when I tell you that it was actually written by an AI content generator. I asked it to write a humorous paragraph explaining what it is that makes AI a great choice for written content

Not bad, right?

Should You Use AI For SEO Content?

Now that we’ve determined that AI can write, the real question is whether or not you should be using it to create content for your SEO strategy. This has been a hotly-debated topic in many circles lately, and some individuals have seen a huge benefit to the increased content output that AI writing programs provide. You may have even seen a few ads online for programs like this.

But is AI-created content alright to use? Google recently ended the argument. In a Google Search Central SEO office-hours hangout, they state that Google’s stance on auto-generated content has always been clear. It doesn’t matter what tools or software you use to create it, content that is written by AI is considered by Google to be automatically generated and goes against their webmaster guidelines, and so it is looked at as spam.

What’s Wrong With AI-Generated Content?

The fact is that even with the increasing quality and informative content AI can create, it’s still not original content. This is because AI learns and pulls information from all over the internet. It’s not able to create its own unique content, so everything it writes will be inspired by something pre-existing. Google places value on high-quality, original content, and AI will not be able to bring the originality you need to get to the top of the search engine results page.
