The classes I’ve taken in my digital media classes may teach me how to brand my projects, but they’ve never shown me the proper way of marketing to targeted audiences. Starting my internship, I was anxious but I was eager to practice real-world projects.
Growing up in the world of technology, you may think you know everything there is to know about social media and how you can market to targeted audiences. But during my internship, I’ve learned that there is so much more to marketing than what we see online. Interning has shown me that regardless of the knowledge I may already have, there is always room to learn.
Live, breathe and search for keywords.
The importance of picking out the right keywords will determine the audience you can potentially bring in.
If you want to bring in traffic to your website, picking the best keywords for SEO efforts is essential. Understanding what your audience is searching for and the aim of your business will help determine that.
Thinking Creatively Inside the Box
Have you heard the phrase, “think outside the box?” I’ve been hearing that phrase for years throughout my entire life. During this internship, I’ve realized how far off this phrase is, especially when working on projects for certain clients.
Everyone should think creatively, but doing something that the brand might not do, you can start losing the vision of the business. You have to find a way to think creatively within the parameters of what the business stands for and how they want to be branded to the consumers.
It’s Okay to Make Mistakes
We’re only human and not making mistakes is almost impossible. Taking in the feedback and learning from them is a valuable tool that you can have in this ever-changing career– while also using tools provided to minimize mistakes.
South Street & Co.’s team has done a great job of making me feel more prepared for my future and learning the best way to market in the real world. I would recommend interning here if you’re interested in learning more about digital marketing!
