Social media is an essential part of creating a successful marketing plan. Today I’m sharing with you the 3 must have habits to become a successful social media expert.
In 2014, 92% of marketers already felt that social media was important for all businesses to have according to Hubspot. But it has been made pretty apparent that bigger businesses aren’t the only social media experts. Recently more and more bloggers and small business owners have learned how to reap all the benefits that social media has to offer.
How do they do it? More importantly, how can you?
I’ve created a list of the top 3 habits that will help take your social media to the next level:
- Commit To Being Consistent
- Interact With Your Followers
- Constantly Experiment
Commit To Being Consistent
Whether you start posting once a day or once a month, consistency is key. Make it a habit to post on a set schedule and stick to it! When followers notice you aren’t posting regularly they will lose interest. As humans, whether we mean to or not, we recognize patterns all around us. People will actually gain excitement for your posts if they know that every day after work a new post is waiting for them to read. Trust me, it’s not easy to stick to a set schedule but when you see followers showing more interest in your posts it will be worth it. This is definitely the first habit you want to master on the road to becoming a social media master.
Interact With Your Followers
People don’t want to follow a robot, they want to see the human side of you as well! If you never answer to comments or messages your followers may be confused and think you don’t welcome their interaction. It’s crucial for your followers to know their importance to your page, they’re your support system! Your followers will appreciate your acknowledgment even if it’s just a comment or follow. To create a more organic conversation, try including a question or starting a conversation at the end of each post. Start the habit of picking out a few hours each week that you can dedicate to interacting just like a true social media expert!
One great thing about social media is how noticeable a small change can be. For example, have you ever posted a picture you thought would get more likes than it actually did? Don’t worry, you’re not the only one! Making note of these situations is the most important habit. Did you post at a different time? Was your post written in a different style? Getting an understanding of what is working and what’s not is essential to every social media expert. Think of your followers as your test subjects. They can help you get an idea of what products are your best sellers, what pictures to post more of, and what time they usually check your page. Overtime, you will start to understand why they continue to follow you but it all starts with experimenting new strategies.
Once you make time and implement your new habits each week you’ll be one step closer to being a social media expert and your social media will thank you.
