What Is Your Name?
Sam
What Is Your Job Title?
Content Creative
What Do You Do On A Daily Basis?
My daily tasks include writing blogs, crafting social media posts, writing content for email blasts, posting blogs on websites, scheduling social posts and eblasts, optimizing website pages, interacting on Facebook, boosting FB posts, checking on FB ads, curating our IG grid, doing industry research and so on. Let’s just say that working for a small business is the best way to gain experience!
How Do You Get Yourself Mentally Prepared For Your Job?
First thing in the morning, I carve out 30-minutes or so to drink my coffee, read emails, complete little mindless tasks and get myself awake and ready for the day. I don’t usually start writing until at least 9 AM when the caffeine kicks in and the creative juices start flowing.
What Experience Have You Had In The Past That Led You Here?
This is actually my first job out of college! I’ve had two internships at advertising agencies that exposed me to the various agency disciplines and gave me a taste of what it would be like to work at one. Each experience was vastly different, so I was able to bring a variety of skills I had learned to the table to land this job.
What Are Some Tips & Tricks To Help Make Your Job Easier?
Writing in large quantities is no piece of cake– It takes concentration and commitment in order to do it effectively. I, personally, work better in complete silence, so I’ve found that moving to a quiet location always helps set the mood. It also helps to stay up-to-date on industry trends and client competition. The more you know about what’s going on in the world around you, the more you have to write about and the more relatable you’ll be.
Who Do You Work Closely With?
I work closely with the Graphic Designer, who brings my creative ideas to life, the Account Manager, who edits my content before sending it to the clients for approval, and the other Content Creative, who I go to to bounce ideas off of and helps me think of a word when I’m in a rut.
What Do You Love Most About Your Job?
I love brainstorming to come up with innovative ideas, watching my SEO efforts help clients increase in rankings, writing persuasive content and helping small businesses grow their online reach!
What’s your favorite thing to do/ what are your hobbies?
When I’m not working, I love to go to the beach/pool, try new restaurants, ride Lime Bikes, travel, take pictures and catch up on my shows.
What motivates you?
My desire to travel keeps me motivated to work hard and save money.
What’s your favorite color?
Orange
What would you tell someone who doesn’t know about marketing?
Marketing is all about consistency. Social platforms, such as Instagram, have designed their algorithms to reward those who use their site the most to engage users and drive traffic. If you aren’t consistently posting, adapting to trends, implementing SEO tactics, building your brand and focusing on your marketing efforts, you won’t see results. It’s a long-distance race, not a sprint.
What’s the biggest thing you’ve learned thus far?
The biggest thing I’ve learned is time management. It’s so important to complete tasks by their deadline so that the rest of the day/week/month can run smoothly.
What’s something not a lot of people know about you?
I’ve taken 6 sign language classes throughout high school and college!
